Dunnellon Bike Rodeo
On November 21st The Dunnellon Sheriffs' Department
put on a bike rodeo for kids. They are gave away donated helmets and
had activities that helped foster safe fun cycling for the kids. It
was held at the Rainbow Springs Square behind Superior Bank.
Blue Run Bicycles helped out by looking bikes over, fixing and
adjusting breaks, gears etc. Thank you to all who participated in
the Dunnellon Bicycle Rodeo: Bertie, Linda, Ike, Grant and Trudi.
We gave the police department a chance to become certified in helmet fitting.
See photos of the event below.
For anyone who missed the chance to participate or would like to again our club
will be helmet fitting for the children of Citrus County (those who have been
provided gifts by Citrus County Resource Center and its many anonymous donors).
This event will take place Sunday December 27th from 10AM to 2PM right in the
parking lot of the Resource Center at the SE corner of Hwys 41 and 486.

2009/04/25 Helmet Fitting
Citrus Cycling had about nine or ten members who
volunteered to fit helmets on little kids. We really did have fun.
Some kids were real doozies. Funny and cute. We were done about
eleven thirty because we ran out of helmets. That was an
aberration. The full order of helmets didn't arrive and the lady in
charge had to scurry around to get the helmets we did have. I think
we made a good impression for the Club. It was quite a sight to
watch Brit, McLean, Mason, and big Pat McDonald fitting these little
kids with helmets. Bertie was doing a great job. Actually, we all
did really well. Of course, I was a little disappointed that not
more Club members showed up. "Getting involved in community
affairs" was one of the major tenets talked about at the
organizational meeting of this Club. Here was a great opportunity
to do that and very few members showed up. For those of us who did,
we had a great time and advanced the name of our Club. That about
does it. Jack
